Product Description
Although business has been slow lately for P.I. Kinsey Millhone, she’s reluctant to take on the case of locating Beverly Danziger’s sister Elaine Boldt. It’s a small matter that Beverly should be able to handle herself. So why is she enlisting Kinsey’s services? Beverly claims she needs Elaine’s signature on some documents so that she can collect a small inheritance. But the whole affair doesn’t sit well with Kinsey. And if there’s something she’s learned in her line of work, it’s to always follow your instincts…

Kinsey’s hunch proves true when she begins her inquiries into Elaine’s whereabouts and discovers that the attractive widow was last seen in a flashy lynx coat boarding a plane for Boca Raton. But the more Kinsey searches for Elaine the more questions she encounters. Is Elaine’s disappearance tied in to the brutal murder several months ago of one of her bridge partners? And what happened to Elaine’s Persian cat who seems to have also vanished?

Things take a turn for the worse when a stranger vandalizes the home of one of Elaine’s neighbors and another neighbor turns up murdered. With her reputation and career on the line, Kinsey risks all to find a missing woman and a killer who’s waiting in the shadows to strike again…

'B' is for Burglar

The second novel in Sue Grafton's Kinsey Millhone series, 'B' is for Burglar is a great improvement over the first book. Kinsey is hired to find the estranged sister of her client, but when the disappearance suggests murder her client balks and stops the investigation. The missing woman's elderly neighbor, however, becomes delightfully involved in the investigation, and rehires Kinsey to find out once and forever what happened to Mrs. Boldt.

The flow of 'B' is for Burglar is more natural than the first book, although Grafton still wanders away from her original story from time to time. The book itself is dated by fashion (and a typewriter!), but in another few years these details will be charming instead of strange.

Just know that this series is not the full series but shorter books for younger people. We didn't know that and ordered the wrong one.

Perky Kinsey goes to Florida

Excellent story. Moves fast and lots of action going on. Really liked the older neighbor, wish Ms. Grafton would bring some of these people into her other books. Unlike another reviewer I think if you took out the details and descriptions out of this book, the story would really be lacking. Kind of like a body with a lot of missing bones.
I really liked that Kinsey went to FL. that was fun. I prefer these first books more than the last ones that seem to have too many side type stories or really involved things going on. She has lost some of her fun aspects and perky attitude. I felt that T is for Trespass was a good book but really long, now there's one that could do with fewer descriptions. The later Kinsey is getting way to political for my taste. A protagonist definitely should grow and develop but from "L" on it's a different Kinsey.
I listened to every one in the series except "U" on audio book and was really sorry when they changed from Mary Peiffer as narrator to Judy Kaye. Mary Peiffer sounds much younger and gives Kinsey just the right personality. Judy Kaye has a much, much older voice which is course and sometimes hard sounding. Way to old for early 30's Kinsey. It really spoils much of later stories. If they had to change narrators I wish they would at least match them to the character.
