Mitchell Farris is in a bind, for he has promised he will cook the wedding rehearsal food for his younger sister Sarah and his best friend Jake's wedding, and it is only a few months away. Unfortunately, Mitch knows nothing about cooking.

Hoping to solve his problem, Mitch enrolls in a cooking class at the local high school. Being the only male in the class, the ladies assume Mitch must be very knowledgeable in cooking. It is soon quite apparent how little Mitch knows about food preparation, and teacher Carolyn suggests Mitch switch to the beginners' cooking class. After explaining to Carolyn that he simply must learn to cook in order to be ready for the wedding, it is agreed Mitch can continue with the class, but he will need some individual, one-on-one lessons taught by Carolyn.

The 24-year old Mitch finds himself falling for his almost 33-year old teacher. Carolyn is attracted to Mitch also, but she views their age difference as a problem. Mitch's friends have been her former students! To Carolyn, this is totally embarrassing and inappropriate. After much thinking and praying, Carolyn decides she must allow Mitch to be a friend only. That is until she meets Mitch's parents who are only a few years older than herself. It seems Mitch is a quite mature young man because his parents conceived him at the very young age of 16, and Mitch was three years old when his parents accepted God as their Savior, married, and put their lives in order. In essence, he grew up right along WITH his parents.

Before meeting Mitch, Carolyn had dated Hank who attends her church, is a few years older than herself, and who is well-established in his life. Hank has properly proposed marriage only a few days ago, and Carolyn had always thought he would be the type she would someday marry. But Carolyn's heart never sparks when she thinks of Hank, and she decides she just cannot marry someone she does not deeply love. Is the fun seeking, spontaneous 24-year old, devoted Christian, Mitch, who seems to be everything wrong, actually the right choice for Carolyn? He is definitely enjoyable to be around, and Carolyn's heart flutters when she thinks of him. Time to do more praying.

"What's Cooking?" is a delightful story, and the fact that it is in audio form is a nice change from reading a book. The Christian message is a worthy one, and the story is upbeat and entertaining. Take it along while driving or exercising. It is appropriate for those who enjoy Christian Romance, and cooks might find it particularly appealing. For good entertainment, I give "What's Cooking?" a high recommendation.
